O Angolense had two phases: the first between 1907 and 1911, under the direction of Euzébio Velasco Galino; the second, approximately between 1917 and 1922, under the direction of Manuel Augusto dos Santos. It advocated for the defense of natives imprisoned following uprisings, called for the regularization of servants' wages, and criticized persecution for religious reasons. The exhibition presents the second phase.
