Typology
Founded in Beira, in 1950, by Bishop Sebastião Soares de Resende, it was the most important Catholic newspaper in Mozambique, especially for its criticism of the authoritarian and colonial regime. The newspaper was several times fined and suspended for its public stands. It was sold by Soares de Resende's successor in 1969, and the government lent Jorge Jardim the money to buy it.
