O Brado Africano

Typology

All series were published in Portuguese and Ronga. In 1926, because of the "João Belo's law", its director became Karel Pott, a graduated lawyer. It was suspended in 1932 by Tribunal da Relação. It continued under the title Clamor Africano (10.12.1932-25.02.1933). In 1933, it restarted publication until 1974. In this phase, it was first edited by Grémio Africano, then by Associação Africana, and finally by Aurélio Ferreira, a former member of the weekly newspaper União Nacional. In fact, the newspaper was undirectly controlled by União Nacional at that period. Directed by: Karel Pott; José Gonçalves Cota; Frederico Barros Costa; Domingos Arouca; and Barros Costa again.
