Coimbra, 19 December 1902 - 5 October 1978. He had a degree in Sciences by the Universidade de Coimbra, was a notable seismologist. He was a teacher in secondary schools and assistent professor at the Universidade de Coimbra, having also been a member of the staff of the Museum of Art and Archaelogy Machado de Castro in Coimbra. He founded the Sociedade de Meteorologia e Geofísica de Portugal (Society for Meteorology and Geophysics of Portugal).
